Hello All, I am over at Easter and I stumbled across companies advertising tickets for a Spring Break Festival 4th-9th April where they plan on 'taking over Albufeira'. Is anyone aware of this? Just concerned that potentially it could end up like the Invasion Festival of last year. Many thanks

It's organised from the UK, so you probably have more info than we do. Just go on their website and avoid where they are going to be. They seem to avoid the Old Town.

The previous similar event caused a lot of problems at the 'strip' end with riot police having to be summoned. Avoid that end of town as advised.

Don`t think the GNR will be giving them as much free rein as they were allowed last time before they had to take action and step in.

I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Several bars/clubs appear to have given permission for events to be held in their premises.
Pure greed without any consideration for the problems caused last year in not only their venues but across the town. I don't know what could be done apart from to forewarn the GNR etc that extra bobbies on the beat will be needed between those dates

Very easy to inform the council and GNR - I sent them the link and also to my mate at the consul who knows most of these people by name so will get the info to the right people

Even had a reply on a Sunday from tourism office, saying would pass email to those concerned, which is good news.

Seems strange for places to agree to it after last year - as has been said pure greed. We visit several times a year and have never had anything other than a great time so when I saw the advert I was concerned. Especially as I have a 15yr old. Fingers crossed a) it’s a flop or b) the people attending justcwant to have fun whilst being respectful

Here is what I posted on the Trip Advisor forum ..
Not nearly as large as the two `parties` last year .. estimated 400 for this one .. distributed between CPO, Paraiso and Janelas Do Mar (pity the last ones as they`ll be in with the Youth Basketball fraternity, April 6-11 at the indoor arena .. noise like you have never heard) .. Wed 4 - Mon 9 April. Party venues ... Wed 4 - Solo Bar (Strip) 2200 - 0400 Thu 5 - Reno`s, Club Vida, La Bamba 2200 - 0400 Fri 6 - Libertos Club 2200 - 0400 Sat 7 - Club Vida 0100 - 0700 Sun 8 - Boat Cruise 1700 - 2000, `Barrio Favela` (Waterfront, Inatel) 1400 - 2000 |

Laura last thing they are is respectful...gang mentality kicks in. Easy enough to avoid they seem to stick to the strip area in said gangs. Don`t know if you have 15 year old boy or girl but if it is a girl I would be avoiding strip on a night and weekend anyway. Don`t be concerned you will still have a good time. |

Alternatively, avoid Albufeira and go to somewhere else like Alvor, Vilamoura ( prices too high for them here). This sort of thing alienates the family groups and people who don't want to be bombarded by gangs intent on getting so off their faces they will have permanent liver damage.Albufeira is getting like Benidorm was years ago. Blackpool with sun.
