ALBUFEIRA TAXI PRICES

UPDATED MAY 2011 - minimum fare is now �3,90

The prices below taken from the official poster at a town centre taxi rank.

To call a taxi, ring 289 583 230. You cannot make advance reservations, just call a few minutes before you wish to leave. In the town centre, near the Strip etc you must go to one of the taxi ranks. Beware that in July and August queues can be very long indeed.

These prices are for an ordinary taxi for 1-4 people. For a six-seater add 20%.

Basic rate : �3,90 for the first three kilometres then 90 cents for each subsequent kilometre. For those who don't think in Kilometres, one mile is 1.7 kilometres.

Excess charges: after 10pm, at weekends and on public holidays + 20%; baggage in hte boot  �1,60.

if you ring for a taxi 80 cents is added to the fare.

�5 will get you from just about anywhere to anywhere else within the Albufeira urban area.

	We caught the bus out to Algarve Shopping yesterday and it cost �5.20 for the two of us, so we thought we would catch a taxi back, thinking it would be 6 - 7 euros. When we got out the metre was at �10, we were opposite the Janelas do Mar on the road to the Worms Roundabout, I estimate that we would have been looking at �13 if we had carried on to the strip. Once the initial �3.80, which is the minimum charge, had been used up, the metre was flying round so fast we thought it was going to take off.
	The sun is the same in a relative way...........but you're older.
