What kind of madman would choose to drink that stuff in a country where there are literally  thousands of fantastic real ales available? I do my best to avoid drinking it here...

I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Exactement. I can report that last night began with a few pints of Tonbridge Brewery's Blonde Ale, when we had drunk all that some turned to Rockin' Robin special mild from their brewery near Maidstone.

Super Bock is bloody awful. I even choose to pay more than double the price for Carlsberg or Heineken rather than stomach that stuff, better still find me some real ale or a nice pint of Bodingtons or Tetley's

I tried some of the Sagres Bohemia Beer (on draft in the restaurant on Fishermans Beach) not bad - definitely better than SuperBock !

I have suspected for a while that I have a very poor palate. One lager over there tastes very much like another to me. I know they're called beer in Portugal but they all seem like lager to me. Now, a pint of Skullsplitter from Orkney where my brother lives is a different matter. But at 8.5% far too strong for my fragile head.
And, totally off topic, here is a pic of Stronsay International Airport which I use sometimes to visit. No need for a smoking lounge.
