Has everybody give up on the likes of Turkey Greece etc. and instead coming to the Algarve this year?
Faro Airport was absolutely manic this morning it was like London Victoria on a Monday morning!

Did you see the article in the Portugal News? Thomson holidays are flying the Dreamliner down here every Sunday to cope with capacity, I think the figures qouted were last year they sold 30,000 holidays on the Algarve in July and August, this year 96,000! Hence loads more flights including the double capacity (against a 737) Dreamliner.
Another article in national press on Wednesday showed all of Turkey's tourist resorts deserted.

Bookings for Spain, Portugal and the Canaries are up significantly. We noticed the Old Town was much busier in early June than previously and your right the airport was buzzing.

Should be good news for business all across the Algarve.

We traveled home today and I agree, never seen Faro airport that busy.
We were over for 9 nights and I've never known it that busy in the old town, also never known the weather to be so hot in June.

Agree with all the above, the place is rammed!
Yesterday we gave up in Pingo Doce, you couldn't get a trolley round and the queue at the dellhi counter! But it's not just the shops, the roads were very busy, the beach, everywhere. Accepted it was a weekend day but after the past few years of concern about under capacity the business owners who rely on tourists surely can't complain this year.
