I have spoken to my contact again about the Portimonense game. He was in discussion with Sheff Wed people last night. The game is definitely in Albufeira, ko 1900hrs.

The game with Vítoria Setubal is also in Albufeira as above, but almost wasn't as the people in Setubal didn't book the pitch etc. That one was nothing to do with us, but has now been sorted.

Good news, a lot of people would have been very disappointed.

That should bring out a few closet Benfica 'fans' from down here.

KO is 20.30hrs (830pm) so get your transport arranged asap as there is bound to be big demand for minibuses, taxis etc. There is NO public transport of any kind available.

You should be able to, however there was an occasion when the self important policeman put in charge of policing the game has made a unilateral decision to shut the bar for no discernable reason whatsoever...

Didn't he cause the match to be abandoned as well?

Ferreiras wouldn't dream of hosting any game without the bar being open. Saw Red Bull Leipzig there in January, they did themselves proud and swelled the coffers. Biggest crowd I have ever seen there.

Have to say I hope Boro play more pre-season games in the Algarve.
Had two cracking nights out, the other night at Ferreiras where thankfully as informed on here the bar was open in the ground.
Bit steep to get in at €10 but hopefully the proceeds, which should have been a healthy amount added to the bar takings,  will be going to the Club itself.
Last night at Vila Real De Santo Antonia, which have to say was a cracking ground for what I assume is lower league football. That was again a real good night free to get in but €3 a pint so swings and roundabouts there.
Managed to get all the Boro squad`s autographs on 3 year old Grandaughter`s shirts so she is happy. Nice informal hour with all the players.
Fingers crossed for next pre season in the Algarve.

Vila Real de Santo António is indeed a lower league ground. They play in the third tier, lowest level of the national set-up. Crowds average 150. It's fairly new as you may have spotted and like almost all stadia here is owned by the local council. Puts UK council's attitudes to shame.

Glad you enjoyed your nights out.
