My daughter & her family are thinking of staying there in October.
Anybody been there? |

I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

I haven't but there are 443 reviews on Trip Advisor at https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g775995-d2091214-Reviews-
It's a pretty isolated area, 4 miles or so west of the old town. Car pretty much essential out there or heavy reliance on taxis. The beach there is excellent, albeit quite a distance and should still have the beach cafés etc open until the middle of the month at least. My map may help - http://www.algarvebus.info/images/gale_sesmarias_map.jpg - it's in the top left hand corner.

Thanks for the info Tom. Isolation probably not a problem as I doubt they'll go far.
They appear to have found a good deal with First Choice - 2 adults, 3 children, flights, 7 nights, all inclusive for £1300 for w/c 16th October - although don't think they've booked it yet. |

If this is the big main campus, there's also a superb restaurant there (actually there's several but this is one we've tried). Take the middle boardwalk, it's off the, or a, car park, head towards the sea and it's last building on right. Very nice, good food at fair prices, lovely atmosphere, great views, highly recommended, open to none residents, worth the trip out. It also does a Sunday G & T to die for! (Probably as good on any day actually, we just enjoy the occasional Sunday sojourn down there and a quality G & T!)

Dicey - don't forget to tell them that all inclusive does not include what they might buy at the beach café, if the weather is nice enough for beach time.
They can also go for a walk along the boardwalk to see the birds if a slight change of scenery is needed.

If it's bird watching they like, go to the beach and walk or turn right, heading West. They'll see all sorts, Boobies, Peckers... ;-)
