A lot of defensive posts on this thread.  If betting is innocuous why the need to defend it with such vigour?  Perhaps they "doth protest too much".
It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear. Douglas Adams

Then again, is this "Albufeira" dot com? Just wondering what this thread is really doing here?

Andrew don`t think the idea of any forum is to just to concentrate on the one subject.
In fact sometimes it is the off topic conversations that generate most interest/argument/opinion/fun.
Should have bet with Ladbrokes you would have got your money back as a free bet...unless skybet do that.
Not sure as I don`t do multiples myself.....bookies like them too much.

I take it all back - well, kind of. Here's a post from an acquaintance on a football site, thread  headed "How bad at betting are you?"

"Because I am an absolute disaster zone!

Been looking down my settled bets list, I have lost 29 out of my last 30 bets. My last 'win' was a paltry 9.17 off a fiver bet on Belgium v Italy in the Euro's."

That's who is funding all you experts...

I've constantly back Pam Sly's horses and she's got one called Bonnets Vino - it won at 22/1 in November, 5/2 in December and again at 22/1 last Friday.
She doesn't have many horses but she had another 33/1 winner the week before last and and a 9/2 winner last Sunday.
She's + £62.83 to a level £1 stake for the current jumps season
Lucy Wadham is pretty good too and I usually back most of her runners.

Shanroe santos get in there 8.2 on betfair easy money lol Wink

My son in law does something similar to that on betting exchanges
He showed me how to do it but it's very time consuming and you have to put the hours in and be on call all day long to take the bets on the horses you've laid - usually no more than 2 or 3 a day
He works from home running his own business so it's a nice little sideline for hiim
If you can afford the time you can make good money

One example of money for nothing off BET365:
They have an offer 2 races every day and all channel 4 races where back a winner of 4/1 or more and you get a free bet up to a maximum of £50.
Look at BET365 and Betfair you need to be looking same time to get matchable odds.
Back nagshead at 4/1 with BET365....Lay nagshead at 4/1 betfair. Nags head wins
I have £50 free bet :
Have  £50 free bet on I`m in the money at 8/1 with bet 365....Lay £44.45 on I`m in the money at 8/1 with betfair.
Profit whether I`m in the money wins or loses circa £44.
Plenty of other ways and means if you look...BET365 catch on eventually but the more family members names you can set an account up under the more chances you have.
I dare say if you operated the same way to tenner bets you might avoid "your account has been suspended" message longer Big smile

It's £2 now so you've saved more than you thought Wink
I think, given the chance, the Portuguese would be ferocious gamblers. Whenever I go to our local paper shop there's always plenty of them in there buying Lotto & Euro Millions tickets and scratch cards almost by the bucket load.
The shop is strewn with long streams of cards cascading down the walls - they must sell upwards of 20 different varieties.
At least with horse racing there's the interest of working through the racecards, studying the form, using your judgement and actually watching the race.
Not like scratch cards where there's no skill involved & you know the fate of your investment in about 10 seconds.
Now that is a mugs game.

Lucky I didn't back my hunch on the two referendums.

They make most of their money from slot machines in betting shops and online casino games like poker and roulette. Horse racing is a small part of it now and has probably been taken over by football betting.
On course betting at big meetings though is huge, particularly at big meetings like Ascot and Cheltenham where it's not uncommon for punters to bet up to £50k on a horse and there will be plenty of bets of £1k to £10k on each race.
