I find the "O" is very important when naming an Irish bar, "O Dalys" just to be to be sure that we know it is an Irish bar!Smile

Just in case anyone asks, Casa da Fonte is closed until 26th December. They are 'closed for holidays' but the road outside is being dug up anyway, for a new drain.

BTW the escalators are still not working and there is no sign of anything being done.

Or maybe that is their name, plenty of O Dalys around here, maybe not so much in Fermanagh.

A quick snap of the ongoing work to rebuild the Avenida Liberdade down from the roundabout, taken early this afternoon with phone so not the usual quality.

The road is now starting to look like a road again. The sub base is down and being rolled. The lines for the pavements have been set out. The tarmac laying machine has arrived.

Sadly, down in town, it does look more and more, to me anyway, that a lot of the flood damaged premises along Avenida 25 de Abril are not going to be open again any time soon. I will have a closer look later in the week.

Along 'bar street' a couple of places are being seriously worked on, but the only place actually open is the Marmota bar.

Update for today at https://cubsur51.wordpress.com/2015/12/15/albufeira-after-the-flood-continued-part-2/

Compare this picture with that above. However a concrete mixer was hard at work inside Casa da Fonte and the sign says open on 26th December.

Some great photos there Tom, you should publish your documentation and photos of the flood & the recovery for posterity.

The progress being made is impressive and there will be people coming to Albufeira in the New Year who may not be able to tell that anything was ever amiss.

All the pictures are on my MS OneDrive and / or blog page and thus in the public domain already.

Perhaps I shall refer the museum to them.

Looks like they have made considerable improvements to the area around square`s big tree ... dirt area reduced .. more concrete and wooden seating now around it. What will bar owners say when several hundred people can now sit ... without paying ?

They will probably welcome it, they can suggest to people in August nursing a coffee for two hours and taking up their terrace space, that they might like to shift onto the public seating...

I hear what you are saying about clogging up the seats in the bars for hours is wrong. However isn't the square in the centre of Albufeira actually called "Jardim publico de Albufeira" in other words a public place where people can sit in the shade under the big tree and have for decades. Nothing annoys me more when you see people nursing the dregs of a coffee or the froth in the bottom of a beer glass, when you would like to sit and have a meal or a drink but all the seats are taken. As Perry suggests they are better off sitting in and around the square on public seats rather than strangling trade to the bars and restaurants Thumbs Up
