I used to use Multibanco to pay my IMI and it's quite easy if you follow the instructions step by step. Do make sure you tap in the very long entity number correctly. It will then ask you to confirm that you wish to pay €x and if x isn't what it says on your bill you've done it wrong,

Keep and scan or copy the receipt as it's on that sort of heat sensitive paper that fades eventually.

Hi, Have been reading recent posts concerning tourist licences. Several years ago when we bought our apartment we were told we did not require a licence, or to pay tax in Portugal as we only let friends and family use the apartment, although they do pay a small amount towards the costs. The income is declared to HMRC although there is normally no tax to pay as the costs greatly exceed the small amount of income. Does anyone know if this has changed under the new rules?

Yes you are correct. A L is only required if you are renting to general public. There is no requirement for you to have one
