Well today it's a bit hotter than yesterday, bright blue skies etc etc current temperaure at 1045 is 28C/82F, very light wind from the south-east.

Today's high around 30C/86F.

As for New Year, yes daytimes can be quite pleasant temperatures around 60F/16C but after it gets dark around 5pm it can get quite cold and quite quickly. You will see the Portuguese and Spanish in heavy coats, gloves and scarves with the Brits still posing in shorts and tee-shirts.

For the last few years it hasn't been too bad over the actual New Year weekend or holiday, maybe a bit of drizzly rain but January and February 2010 were overall the two wettest months ever recorded here. If I remember correctly it started raining about 3rd January and over the next seven weeks we had a whole year's rainfall.

Nature has compensated. It has been hotter than usual since early June and the place is now like a desert. It cannot rain soon enough for the farmers and gardeners.

0915 on Sunday morning and it is 23C/74F, bright blue skies and a moderately breezy wind from the north.

Today's high once again around 30C/86F and there is no sign of any rain.

The ten day forecast suggests no real change in the weather, except it will start to get a tiny bit cooler as the days gradually get shorter. It sill still be at least in the mid 20's C or high 70's F.

Last night at 8pm my thermometer said 29C, so it must have been rather warm during the afternoon!

Another hot one on the way today. at 1000am we have 24.5C/76F with a light wind from the north. Forecast high 30C/86F at least. No signs of rain. It might be a bit cooler tomorrow apparently.

I'm off later to enjoy a week of the delights of an English early September, the forecast for Kent is rain, rain and more rain. I will update here as best I can but anyone who can look out of a window here in Albufeira is more than welcome to embellish this page with their observations!

Have a nice day.

From afar - 21C/70F in Albufeira, light wind from the west north west and rather humid. Today's top temperature 27C/80F. Should stay dry but might cloud over later and there a few showers out west to keep half an eye on.

Compare and contrast with my Canterbury situation!

Looking out of my window and clear sky and clouds in equal proportions.

There is quite a strong breeze out there and the temperature has dropped considerably from last week, even getting chilly in the evenings now.

Yes you must really be freezing in Albufeira! At 0900 the temperature reads 19C/66F with virtually no wind. Expected to reach 28C/82F  this afternoon. Rather better than where I am though. The solution to the Algarve's drought problems is to build a cricket stadium.

I will bet those of you in Albufeira have the winter woolies out!

At 0830 it was 18C/64F. Very liight wind from the north. Today's high around 30C/85F with bright sunshine. Staying dry. Tomorrow and Saturday a bit cooler and cloudier but still much better than where I shall be.

Looking out of the window and the sky is blue, blue and blue.

Hardly any breeze to speak of, it's going to be a lovely day.

Even better today by the looks of it. 0845 and in Albufeira 23C/74F rising to 31C/87F later. Very light wind from the north-east so it's bringing dry air from the interior.

Have a nice day.
