I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Spotted a bank in Eastbourne yesterday offering a miserable €1.089 for cash so it obviously pays to shop around!

Gloom, despondency. Everyone cancel your holidays and come to Eastbourne instead. Or some other non-Euro zone.

Or maybe not. Anyway, things will settle down after the UK election, but which way? Up or down??

Services dominate the UK economy, contributing about 78% of total GDP, and so it also has a big impact on the value of the Pound. The better result has sent Sterling higher against both the Euro and the US Dollar.

It again demonstrates that for the moment, Brexit has taken a back seat in terms of what is driving exchange rates, with the traditional economic data coming back into focus. The UK economy continues to perform robustly and many in the market think the Pound is undervalued and will bounce back. I tend to agree that the Pound has been unfairly punished since the referendum result, however it will probably be some time before we see GBP/EUR rates back to €1.30".

Guess who didn`t see the financial crash coming either ... ?

That was start of April when the pound did go up and flirt with 1.19. Since then the odds have shortened on Corbyn getting in power..God forbid...If that happens the Pound will be worth about 90 cents Wink.
As Cubsur said the upcoming election is having a big say on the way currency values are going. After which who Knows?
Choppy seas ahead all Newspaper writers can do is speculate in words not money as it is impossible to follow normal "trends" when they are in and out of the market in minutes having made a quick buck.
I have not looked lately but I would think volumes are way down on the currency market it is just too volatile.

I will check on the local tourist rate when in town later.

1.08 indeed it was. Commercial rate today shown as 1.138 so shouldn't change much over the weekend at least.
