Trouble at Os Armancanenses game last week has resulted in the club being fined a total of €290 and being ordered to play one match behind closed doors.

In addition, two people (player or official I don't know) were suspended for one and three months, also fined. A player also had a one match ban imposed.

Olhanense are 11th. They have scored just two goals in their last nine games, five of which have been 0-0 draws.

Bottom of the table, not counting the teams in 23rd and 24th places, who are already doomed to relegation. The bottom three teams in this list will join them as the league is being reduced from 24 to 22 teams. Farense are probably in more trouble. They have been deducted two points for using an ineligible player in a recent match. This is not shown in the numbers below, they may be appealing.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Almost all football was played yesterday, Saturday 30th, as they don't generally play here on major public holidays.

Segunda Liga

Olhanense 3 - 2 Freamunde 2 att 382
Chaves 1 - 1 Farense att 7900 a sellout and the biggest crowd in this league so far this season
Oliveirense 0 - 2 Portimonense 2 att 445

The upshot of these and other scores is that the top of the table looks like this with two games remaining for most teams and remember that Porto B cannot be promoted :

Porto B played 43 pts 82
Chaves played 44 pts 79
Portimonense played 44 points 76
------------------------------------------------
Feirense played 44 pts 74
Freamunde pl 44 pts 71
Famalicao pl 44 pts 70

The two other Algarve teams did Portimonese a big favour with their results. Olhanense were no doubt helped by the other lot having two players sent off in the same incident with half an hour left. They are now 9th. Their three goal haul equalled their scoring record for the previous eleven matches combined.

Despite that valuable point, Farense are still four points away from avoiding relegation. They must win their final two matches and hope that others slip up.

Next weekend

Portimonense v Chaves Sunday 8th May ko 1115am a game that Portimonense must win.
Farense v Aves ko 4pm /1600hrs again a must win for the Algarve side
Olhanense travel to Leixões

Campeonato Nacional Seniores second phase group H

     Pinhalnovense     3 - 0 FC Barreirense
Atletico Sport Clube     3 - 2 Juventude Évora SC
    Louletano DC     1 - 2 Almancilense
    Lusitano Vrsa     3 - 1FC Castrense

With two games remaining, Almancil are top with 40 pts, Louletano 4th with 30 pts. Both will be safe from relegation. Not so Lusitano VRA, who are 5th on 28pts and must win one of their final two games.

Next Sunday at 4pm / 1600hrs

Almancilense v Lusitano VRSA
Louletao travel to Juventude Évora

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION 1

CF Esperança Lagos      4 - 0     Guia FC
CF Os Armacenenses      3- 0     Sport Faro e Benfica
JD Monchiquense          0- 3     Silves FC
Quarteirense          3- 1     Padernense Clube
CD Odiaxere          0- 1     CU Culatrense
Imortal Albufeira        2- 1     GD Lagoa
FC Ferreiras          5- 2     Quarteira SC
11 Esperanças         1-2     Moncarapachense

Defeat for Lagoa in Albufeira and victory for Armacanenses confirms the latter as Algarve League champions for 2015 - 2016. They are promoted to the Campeonato Nacional Seniores.

Ferreiras are 4th, Guia 13th and Paderne 14th. Either Guia or PAderne will be relegated along with Monchique and Odiaxere.

Next Saturday at 1600hrs / 4pm

Guia v Armacanenses
Fato e Bencifa v Odiaxere
Paderne v Lagos
Quarteira v Quarteirense
Silves v 11 Esperanças
Moncarapachense v Imortal Albufeira

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Segunda Liga
´
Portimonense 1 Chaves 1 att 4600
Farense 2 Aves 1 att 609
Leixões 0 Olhanense 2 att unknown

The promotion hopes of Portimonense and the hopes of Farense to avoid relegation will both go down to the last games of the season, next Saturday.

The top of the table looks like this :

Porto B 86 pts and champions but cannot be promoted
Chaves 79pts
Feirense 77pts
Portimonense 77pts
Freamunde 74pts

Only two go up.

Key matches next Saturday, all at 1600hrs / 4pm

Varzim v Portimonense
Benfica B v Freamunde
Chaves v Feirense

Down at the bottom, only two points separate 17th from 22nd. The bottom two, in 23rd and 24th, are already definitely down. Three from those other six will join them.

Farense travel to Gil Vicente, who are 11th but always an awkward team to beat. Farense must win and hope other results go their way.

Other key games :
Aves (7th) v Mafra (17th with 53pts)
Viseu (18th, 53pts) v Covilhã (13th)
Benfica B (19th, 52pts) v Freamunde (5th)
Oliveirense (24th) v Leixões (20th, 52pts)
Atlético (21st, 51pts) v Oriental (23rd)

Campeonato Nacional Seniores Second Phase group H

Pinhalnovense 0-0 Castrense
Barreirense 0-0 At. Reguengos
Juventude Évora 2-1 Louletano
Almancilense 2-1 Lusitano VRSA

One game remaining. Almancil and Louletano are safe, only a terrible defeat for Lusitano VRSA at bottom side Juventude Évora and a big win for Reguengos at home to Pinhalnovense would see them go down.

Next Sunday at 1700hrs / 5pm

At. Reguengos v Pinhalnovense
Louletano v Barreirense
Lusitano VRSA v Juventude Évora
Castrense v Almancilense

ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

Silves 3-1 11 Esperanças
GD Lagoa 1-2 Ferreiras
Quarteira 2-1 Quarteirense
Padernense 2-2 Esp. Lagos
Guia 0-3 Armacenenses
Faro e Benfica 1-0 Odiáxere
Monchiquense v Culatrense Abandoned, high winds and heavy rain up there in the hills
Moncarapachense 2-2 Imortal Albufeira

Armancanenses were crowned champions after last week's matches. Either Quarteirense or Lagoa, who are level on 63 points will finish second, as they play one another next week. The team finishing second is rewarded with a place in the Portugal FA Cup, they don't get promoted. Ferreiras are fourth, they can finish no higher than third. Imortal are 8th, while Guia and Padernense are 13th and 14th respectively and will be playing Second Division football next season.

Next Saturday at 5pm / 1700hrs

11 Esperanças v Monchiquense at Horta da Areia, Faro
Imortal Albufeira v Silves
Quarteirense v GD Lagoa
Esp. Lagos  v Quarteira
Armacenenses v Padernense
Odiáxere v Guia
Culatrense v Faro e Benfica at Penha, faro
Ferreiras v Moncarapachense

ALGARVE LEAGUE SECOND DIVISION POINTLESS BOTTOM GROUP SECOND PHASE

So near for Portimonense yesterday. Nearest challengers Feirense were behind going into added time, then bagged two to win! Gil Vicente had three sent off so maybe suspensions will help Farense this weekend.

In the local football press the winning goals for Feirense are credited to Kizito (90+1) and Kakula (90+6) (although another report does give the second to Kizito!) after which the two Gil Vicente players received straight red cards for their protests.

It sets up an interesting Saturday afternoon. Let's hope Chaves do their bit and beat Feirense.

Sounds like they are spawny as Millwall, with their 98th minute penalty to give them home advantage in the second leg of the play-offs. Come on Bradford!!!!

Not a good day for Algarve football yesterday. Portimonense could only  draw their last game thus missed out on promotion to the big league by goal difference. At the other end of the Segunda Liga table, Farense lost and were relegated as a consequence.

I thought Farense won? But the "surprising" 5 - 0 win of Benfica B over Freamunde condemned Farense.

LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS NEXT WEEKEND'S GAMES

Not a good day for the Segunda Liga teams. Portimonense missed out promotion by virtue of a  lower goal difference, they needed a win. The other end of the table Farense won, but were relegated as other results went against them in particular Benfica B's 5-0 win over promotion hopefuls Freamunde. Freamunde had a player sent off after 39 minutes when 1-0 down. Leixões scored a late winner in their games, had they drawn they would have had one less point than Farense and would have been relegated instead. What did hurt Farense was the points deduction for using an ineligible player earlier in the season.
