This is a regular annual get-together, featuring Portugal, Germany and Netherlands, together with a guest usually from parts distant.

This year its the Japan team. Who kicked the competition off with a 3-2 loss to Germany at Vila Real San Antonio's complex out east.
The Germans looked comfortable at 3-0 halftime but second half substitutions plus firmer Japanese resolve made for a close finish.
Portugal then made short work of the Dutch. The final score of 6-2 was by no means an excessive reflection of play.

Day 2 is Sunday, with Port/Germ the pick at noon, then the others at 3pm. At VRSA again.

The last day is closer to home, at Imortal in Albufeira on Wednesday 14th; Jap/Port at 1030hrs followed by Neth/Germ at 1330hrs.

It is worth noting that the excellent facility at VRSA is undergoing renovations. Whilst the main pitch is fine, the surrounding athletics/running facility is not fit for use. Looking a bit sad really imo. All the football is taking place on their outside pitch which has no spectator comforts [or cover, if it rains]. Cry

Day 2 completed yesterday:

Germany 2-0 Portugal, in the top team clash  and Netherlands 6-2 Japan.

Wednesdays final day [at Imortal] sees Germany v Netherlands in the second game, at 1330hrs. The result will decide the tournament winner.

Day 3 completed:

Japan 1-2 Portugal. Two average teams. Japan maintain their status as the Groups strong men.
Germany 3-3 Netherlands. A very exciting second half, first half not so much.

With two wins and a draw, Germany top the table. If Netherlands had forced a winner today [and they came close] then the two would have finished level. Heaven only knows how the title would have been resolved. Penalties anyone.
